Former policeman Jim Reaper takes the law into his own hands to ensure justice is done. His 14-year-old daughter killed herself after being raped and the rapist is out of prison after only three years. Reaper murders the rapist, is arrested and sits in a police cell on remand, no longer caring about what will happen to him. But events overtake his trial. A pandemic has been sweeping the world and he is one of the few survivors unaffected by the killer virus. Society shreds and violence rages. Gangs take what they want, including women. Murder and rape are rife. Reaper decides God has spared him so that he can make a difference. He decides to help those survivors who want to make a new start and to protect them against the evil-doers. He leads a group to a country estate near York and it expands with refugees from the violent cities and towns. The future could be bright but rogue bands roam the countryside and an ambitious and ruthless warlord is gathering a private army in the north. And what is the truth about the rumours that Prince Harry is forming a government at Windsor? Reaper must go to war to help his people survive.
A novel partly inspired by the era of the Asbo youth and rampant hooliganism on the streets of Britain. Reaper is a strictly moral but utterly ruthless hero, aided by 18-year-old sidekick Sandra, whom he rescues from gang abuse and trains in weaponry. Based on the fact that a pandemic will eventually happen and have devastating effects, and that if society's rules did break down, violent gangs would rule the streets. Until somebody stopped them.

Months since the virulent flu-like pandemic known as ‘SuperSARS’ wiped out 98% of the world’s population, Britain has become a place of chaos, carnage and terror for the few survivors. After its bloody confrontation with the murderous paramilitaries of ‘Muldane’s Army’, The North Yorkshire community of ‘Haven’ licks its wounds. Both Reaper and Sandra harbour the pain of having lost loved ones in the conflict. More people are flocking to the sanctuary. They bring new skills and the hopes of finding peace and security and a return to civilisation.
But Reaper knows that just as decent people are coming together in ever-greater numbers and with more sophisticated technology, so too, inevitably, are the predators and the depraved. And so Reaper and Sandra venture abroad seeking early intelligence of the threats that lie over the horizon while dealing with evil wherever they find it, and in the only way they know how.
But Sandra is no longer an apprentice: the loss of her husband has turned her hard, efficient and ruthless. Across the isolated settlements a modern legend spreads. It speaks of the Angel of Death.

A year after the pandemic, Reaper and Angel and their small band of trained enforcers continue to safeguard the growing North Yorkshire community of Haven, which has become the hub of trade and co-operation between dozens of small settlements.
But they are worried by the threat posed by a regime that calls itself Redemption in the South of England that claims to be the new seat of British government with Prince Harry as its patron. It is led by a ruthless self proclaimed general who has a battalion of regular soldiers under his command. Redemption has been guilty of terrible atrocities as it attempts to impose work camps and keep survivors, who were attracted by its promise of civilised order, under control.
At the same time, a feral horde has left the North East to wreak havoc in the agrarian communities as it treks south.
Reaper and Angel and their small band of special forces face have to contend with both perils in an explosive conclusion to the trilogy.

The man in Spain called himself Raoul. The price for his story was £250,000. He claimed to have arranged the assassination of Martin Luther King in Memphis of April 4, 1968. He also claimed that King set up his own martyrdom.
The job of checking out Raoul was a low-priority assignment but for Lacey it was a chance to end months of boredom, a dry-run to see whether he could handle a mission and whether it was safe to put him back in action. Lacey had a talent for mayhem.
At the villa near Sitges, Lacey delves deeper into Raoul's conspiracy story. There is a connection with Eugene Burnette, currently a potential presidential candidate; there is also the puzzle of the weeks that assassin James Earl Ray spent in London before his arrest and extradition. And it is at Raoul's villa that Lacey first claps eyes on Sutherland, a professional killing machine whose every calculated move will threaten Lacey's chances of survival.
Winner of the John Creasey Award for best first crime novel by the Crime Writers Association of Great Britain. Published by Bantam in 1987. Still available from Amazon and e-bay.

The idea for The Limit came from the family of my wife, Anonietta Maria Colaluca. Her grandfather, Diamond Tony, ran a string of fish and chip restaurants along the Fylde Coast around Blackpool, plus other business interests. He was a millionaire and drove a pink Rolls Royce. He bought George Formby's mansion Beryldene on the outskirts of the resort. My wife was born there. He was also a friend of London gangster Jack Spot.
In the Swinging 60s, Maria's sister Virginia was going into boxer Brian London's 007 Club in Blackpool when Brian, a family friend, asked her to sign in a stranger.
The stranger followed her into the club and introduced himself. He had been one of Jack Spot's men and recognised her name. He was laying low for a couple of weeks and saw her a couple of times. He was much older than her and a perfect gentleman. Before he left town, he gave her his card and said: "Any trouble, any time. Call me."
I thought what a wonderful starting point for a book and created Mordecai Morgan.
Diamond Tony Colaluca is the in the middle wearing the shades. Behind him is his son Louis Colaluca - my wife's father. In the forefront on the right is Rocky Colaluca. The other two are minders.
